![]() Thousands of Mennonites flock to ParaguayBy Jerrad Peters | ChristianWeek StaffAmit Andrew Roul will be one of 46 delegates who attend the Mennonite World Conference Global Youth Summit from July 10-12 in Asuncion, Paraguay, just prior to the Mennonite World Conference proper. Roul, who attends Brethen in Christ Church in Orissa, India, completed his delegation application while many of his fellow Christians were being persecuted and displaced from their homes in late 2008. "Many people had to hide in the forest because their houses were burnt down," he is quoted saying on the Conference website. "The attacks took place in many neighborhoods where [Brethren in Christ] churches were located, and I was not able to visit some of them because commuting could be too risky and public transport was non-existent some days," he said. Roul's story will be one of many told at the Global Youth Summit, which will bring together delegates from 33 countries, including Japan, Indonesia, Columbia and Canada.
