Gen Z Traded Church for for a ‘New Religion,’ Faith Leaders Say

“They are definitely evangelizing, it’s just not Christianity.”

  • A recent study found that 48.5% of Gen Z identifies as non-religious, atheist or agnostic, and religious leaders have a lot of thoughts about the reasons behind the decline in faith.
  • Gen Z’s mental health has declined along with their faith, as recent studies found that Gen Z reports the highest level of mental illness and suicidal ideation compared to other generations.
  • “[I]t’s not that Gen Z isn’t religious, it’s that they picked a new religion,” Joshua Mercer, co-founder of the CatholicVote, told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Nearly half of Generation Z does not identify as religious, according to a new study, and religious leaders that spoke to the Daily Caller News Foundation said the trend is not surprising because they have substituted church for “a new religion.”

A Wizard, a Witch, a Drag Queen and a Child Stand by as Canadian Legislator Launches Drag Show Protection Bill

A Canadian politician has proposed a law allowing Ontario’s attorney general to criminalize “offensive remarks” within 100 meters of a drag show, including so-called drag queen story hours for children.

If passed, the measure would create a football field-size “2SLGBTQIA+ community safety zone” around drag shows and other LGBT events in Ontario. Anyone who protests within the zone would be subject to a $25,000 fine under the legislation.

Chinese Christian church lands in Texas after fleeing persecution

Members of the Shenzhen Holy Reformed Church, also known as the Mayflower church, arrived in Texas this weekend after fleeing China years ago. The church members landed at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport on Friday evening. Bob Fu, the founder of China Aid, called the trip “truly a Good Friday,” and noted that barely a week ago, church members were in a Thai jail worrying about being deported to China.

Does Penal Substitution Require the Resurrection?

Reflections on the Atonement for Easter Weekend

“The good news of the gospel is that Jesus paid for all our sins on the cross and we are thereby forgiven.”

Jerry Bridges wrote those words in his excellent work, The Discipline of Grace. As a pastor, I’ve recommended that book to many over the years and loaned out my personal copy so much that I’ve had to replace it repeatedly. But every time I read that line I cringe just a bit. I want to write in “and was raised from the dead!” I want his summary of the gospel to include the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. After all, Paul makes clear that Christ’s resurrection is no inconsequential matter, telling the Corinthians that “if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in yours sins” (1 Cor. 15:17). The resurrection is of absolute necessity to the gospel message. But I have to admit, this is an area in which I’m a bit sensitive.

Josh Hawley Calls for ‘Hate Crime’ Investigation Into Deadly School Shooting

Police report that the attack here was ‘targeted’—targeted, that is, against Christians.

Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., is calling for federal authorities to investigate the deadly Covenant School shooting as a federal hate crime.

“Yesterday the nation witnessed the vicious murder of small schoolchildren in Nashville, Tennessee,” the senator wrote in a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. “It is commonplace to call such horrors ‘senseless violence.’ But properly speaking, that is false. Police report that the attack here was ‘targeted’—targeted, that is, against Christians.”

NHL goalie may pay price for refusing to bow to LGBTQ+ agenda; Christian school already has

When the San Jose Sharks hockey team held its Pride Night last Saturday, devout Christian goaltender James Reimer did not participate. During the pregame skate, Sharks players wore jerseys featuring a purple-tinted great white shark on a heart-shaped teal crest and a rainbow-colored “Love Wins” patch on one arm. Reimer also did not play in the Sharks’ 4-1 loss to the New York Islanders later that night.

“In this particular instance, I am choosing not to endorse something that is counter to my personal convictions, which are based on the Bible,” Reimer wrote in a statement that the Sharks issued to local and national media. “I strongly believe that every person has value and worth, and the LGBTQIA+ community, like all others, should be welcomed in all aspects of the game of hockey.”

‘Banality of evil’: Scholars explain what’s behind assisted suicide’s expansion in the West

“Poisonous” idea culture is presenting to people that unless something is “chosen” or “expressive,” it’s not “real,” and it’s not “good.”

WASHINGTON — As assisted suicide rises to new record levels in some areas of the globe, experts say that the “banality of evil” and expressive individualism are playing a role as governments in the United States, Canada and Europe are pushing the envelope by expanding who can access “medical aid in dying.”

On Tuesday, the Institute for Human Ecology (IHE) at The Catholic University of America hosted a panel discussion titled “What is Euthanasia Doing to the West?” Panelists pondered the reasoning behind the rise of assisted suicide in the West.
