700 Club Canada hits the airwaves
HAMILTON, ON—Television's "700 Club Canada" is on the air, 50 years after the original series began its American broadcast.
"Pat Robertson and the entire CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network) believes Canada is a significant country," says host Brian Warren. "The goal is to build faith and inspire a nation that's so diverse.
"There are 200-plus mother tongues in Canada—it's a mission field like nowhere else in the world."
Canadians have had a national edition of "The 700 Club" since 1974 through CBN's partner, the Christian Broadcasting Associates. The October 3 launch of "700 Club Canada" marked the debut of a daily, half-hour, entirely Canadian, program.
New host Warren, who filled a similar role on "100 Huntley Street" for 18 years, is a former CFL football player, an ordained minister with the African Methodist Episcopal Church and CEO of Canada in Prayer, the first national Internet-based prayer network. His co-host, Laura-Lynn Tyler Thompson, brings 12 years of experience as a nationally renowned television host to the mix.
The magazine-style program blends international news, Bible teaching and inspiring stories of how God is moving in the lives of everyday Canadians. "700 Club Canada" airs weekdays on Vision TV, as well as British Columbia's Joy TV 10 and Winnipeg's Joy TV 11.
