Risking it all to reach South American tribes
Indigenous missionaries in Columbia and Peru are trusting in God to reach remote villages with the Gospel
Intercede International is partnering with indigenous missionaries in Columbia and Peru despite the great risks in bringing Christianity to unreached tribes.
However, in the face of guerrilla attacks, thieves and wild animals, missionaries continue to travel from village to village speaking and showing films of the life of Jesus. Many are converting and accepting Christ, and church planting efforts provide opportunities to nurture the new Christians.
“Entering a new territory is a big challenge,” explains Rev. Luis Guerrero. “Due to the war, many people are nervous and don’t trust anyone. Our first goal is to try to win people who could introduce us—local people who could give us an open door. Then people will accept us. Two missionaries are sent out together for safety. And it’s also biblical. Sometimes it’s three or four, but at least it’s two.”
