McMaster honours David Mainse
HAMILTON, ON - Canadian Christian television pioneer David Mainse is the recipient of an honorary doctorate from McMaster Divinity College.
Mainse accepted the doctorate of divinity at a ceremony in May, where he gave an address to the graduating class. He challenged graduates to stay rooted in Scripture, look for “big ideas from above" and to then follow through on those ideas.
“I have been blessed by God with wonderful opportunities," he told “100 Huntley Street." “You know the doors are all open. You just have to walk through them. You don't wait around waiting for God to shove you through...
“The door may close behind you. But you go through every open door of opportunity. And that is (what) the grace of God is that I have experienced."
Crossroads Christian Communications Inc., which Mainse founded, will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2012. Its flagship program, “100 Huntley Street," is the longest running daily Christian television program in Canada.
Mainse also received an honorary doctorate from Tyndale University College and Seminary in 2003.
