REconneXion highlights new ways to tell the old, old story

WATERLOO, ON—At REconneXion pastors and church leaders will find new ways to breathe life into the old, old story.

Sponsored by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada (BGEAC), REconneXion is a series of one-day seminars for church leaders. Its goal is to provide new ideas for churches wanting to effectively reach their local communities, as well as providing resources, tools and encouragement for ministry leaders.

"One of seminars I do is about sparking imagination," says David Macfarlane, director of National Initiatives for the BGEAC. "We'll share different ways to become creative even when you're not."

He says the session will spark creativity through methods like idea blasting and idea mapping. What's unique about REconneXion, though, is that Macfarlane and co-presenter Dave Overholt, pastor of Hamilton's Church on the Rock, will use all-Canadian examples and illustrations.

"I'm on the road 70 per cent of the time," says Macfarlane, "and I'll be giving a national perspective on a number of trends, the clever things Canadians are doing and the Canadian response to Canadian issues."

The October events will take place in Ottawa, Orleans, Kanata, Belleville and Peterborough. Macfarlane hopes REconneXion will be held in the Toronto area and other Southwestern Ontario communities next year.
