Facing consequences for their faith

NHL goalie may pay price for refusing to bow to LGBTQ+ agenda; Christian school already has

When the San Jose Sharks hockey team held its Pride Night last Saturday, devout Christian goaltender James Reimer did not participate. During the pregame skate, Sharks players wore jerseys featuring a purple-tinted great white shark on a heart-shaped teal crest and a rainbow-colored “Love Wins” patch on one arm. Reimer also did not play in the Sharks’ 4-1 loss to the New York Islanders later that night.

“In this particular instance, I am choosing not to endorse something that is counter to my personal convictions, which are based on the Bible,” Reimer wrote in a statement that the Sharks issued to local and national media. “I strongly believe that every person has value and worth, and the LGBTQIA+ community, like all others, should be welcomed in all aspects of the game of hockey.”

Joe Boot: The Battle for History

Our understanding of the past shapes our vision for the future.

It is a universal human phenomenon that we live our lives forwards, whilst hoping we will understand them better when looking backwards, yet history has often been described by thinkers and philosophers as an impenetrable mystery. We read history and visit historical sites and monuments, digging up the past as a tourist attraction. We’re frequently enchanted by what has gone before and some dream of making history like their heroes from one age or another. Paradoxically, our fascination with history is directly tied to our concern for the shape of the future. Since none of us know what is to come, the contingency of past events makes history the battleground of the future – since the truly historical event is that which gives formative shape to culture.

West Texas A&M president cancels ‘derisive’ campus drag show, cites Christian faith

“These lewd ‘performances’ are divisive & degrading.”

The head of a Texas university cited the Bible and other religious texts to support his decision to cancel a planned drag show scheduled to take place on campus later this month.

In a statement released Tuesday, West Texas A&M University President Walter Wendler said the college, located in Canyon, Texas, about 10 miles south of Amarillo, will not host the March 31 drag show, which he said was advertised as an effort to raise money for a nonprofit organization, The Trevor Project.

Israel’s Prime Minister Says the Country Will Not Pass Bill Banning Christianity

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Wednesday that he will not allow any legislation to be passed banning Christianity after two members of the Israeli government proposed the bill earlier this year, according to the All Israel News.

The bill was introduced into the Israeli Knesset, Israel’s legislative body of elected officials, from Israel’s United Torah Judaism’s Moshe Gafni and Yaakov Asher on Jan. 9, according to All Israel News. What’s 5% Of John MacArthur Worth?

At last week’s Shepherds Conference, Steve Lawson said, “I think that 5% of John MacArthur is worth more than the whole evangelical world put together.”

Some evangelicals immediately accused Steve Lawson of celebrity worship, idolatry, and flattery.

Normally, I wouldn’t dedicate an article to this kind of issue. To be honest, I think this supposed controversy is silly. However, I’ve received some questions about this. And it actually gives me an opportunity to share something I’ve been thinking about concerning John MacArthur, evangelicals, and North Americans.
