In a recent report on modern slavery around the world, a U.N. investigator says Christians and other minorities are being specifically targeted in Nigeria for forced marriage.
The report suggests that among some groups, up to three-quarters of young girls are forced into marriage, despite Nigeria's laws which mandate consensual marriage. In this piece for Mission Network News, Greg Musselman from Voice of the Martyrs Canada shares the story of one Nigerian girl whose experience reflects many forced marriage stories in that country.
