Familiar bylines, new roles
Not all the changes happening at ChristianWeek are quite as visible as the freshly reformatted newspaper you are now reading. We're gearing up for a new season with more than the few ordinary tweaks to our schedule and writing roster. This year some of our key personnel are adjusting to different responsibilities as well.
Robert White has been editing the Ontario edition of ChristianWeek since it began its life as ChristianCurrent in Guelph in March 2002. This fall he is moving into a new role as our senior correspondent, researching and writing both regional and national stories from his base in southern Ontario.
The new Ontario editor is no stranger. Mags Storey has been ChristianWeek's Ontario correspondent for three years and has contributed more articles than anyone else during that time. If you haven't noticed her byline, you haven't been reading this newspaper. Mags is a dynamo of ideas and storytelling prowess. Now she gets to exercise them more fully in our pages. And (it's a mixed blessing) she sits in on a lot more meetings.
Which is good for us. Mags brings more than a dozen years editing and reporting experience. This includes working within a team to creatively improve established publications so they can reach their audiences more effectively.
Robert will continue to have his hands full. When he isn't chasing down stories for ChristianWeek, you may find him hosting his weekly "Arts Connection" program on Faith FM in Kitchener. Or editing the Pulse section in SEVEN, a Christian magazine for Canadian men produced by ChristianWeek for Promise Keepers Canada. Maybe he'll even be working on another book. Earlier this year, Word Alive Press published Chasing the Wind, Robert's extended reflection on the book of Ecclesiastes.
Both Mags and Robert are valuable members of a team that is working hard to supply a steady diet of articles about the people, ministries, events and ideas that matter to Christians throughout Canada. Our Ontario team's talents and commitment are a big reason why readers keep turning to ChristianWeek for good news - good reporting and inspired story selection. Welcome to your new roles.
