Forever grateful
Free Bible changes one man’s life for eternity
This testimony from Give the Word originally appeared in the April print edition of ChristianWeek.
My name is Brian. Several months ago I was in a treatment centre in Ottawa. One of the guys in my treatment program had a Life Recovery Bible from Give The Word. I remember looking at it and wanting it badly.
My greed took over and I tried to take it from him. I even tried to trade some of my possessions for his Bible. But God knew my heart wasn’t really ready to change. The other man would not let me have his Bible for anything.
I left the program and spent the next eight months caught up in my addictions, a slave once again to so many harmful things. God led me across the country to another treatment centre in Abbotsford B.C. Little did I know that Give The Word partnered with that centre as well.
The day I was admitted I was walking through a park with my friend who was a graduate of this recovery program. A man named Peter crossed our path (Peter is a volunteer with Give The Word) and my friend knew him. Peter was holding the same Bible in his hands that I had tried to get my hands on in Ottawa months earlier. I could not believe it.
Peter had meant to give the Bible to someone else but for some reason he offered it to me. He didn’t know me or what I was going through. I could not believe what was happening! God knew my heart was ready. It was the exact Life Recovery Bible I longed for. God knows the thoughts and intents of the heart!
I have now almost completed my treatment and I cannot put this Bible down. Give The Word literally gave me the chance to know Jesus! I am saved because of it and I am clean and sober because of it.
When you support Give The Word, you are supporting lost people like me, giving us the opportunity to find Jesus. Thank you Give The Word for playing key part in my journey of faith. I am forever grateful!
