Good reader value comes with a cost
This month, we wrap up celebrating 25 years of publishing ChristianWeek. We do so with a profound sense of gratitude for the readers, advertisers, donors, writers, newsmakers and all who have helped to make this venture a consistent feature on the Canadian ministry scene. We are grateful, grateful indeed.
Regular readers are already well aware of the financially fragile nature of this enterprise. And no doubt you noticed many of the changes we introduced in our efforts to keep publishing in a struggling industry in a lifeless economy. In the past year alone we reduced the frequency of the print editions and changed to a magazine style format.
Those were only the most visible in a series of strategic adjustments we've been making. Among other things, our internal systems have been overhauled; our web presence has been strengthened; staff members have assumed new responsibilities.
We are also acknowledging our increasing dependence on readers, writers and suppliers who see the value of this publication and are helping to carry the costs of producing it. This ministry relies on the generosity of people like you, readers throughout Canada who appreciate fair-minded reporting and reliable comment.
ChristianWeek is published by Fellowship for Print Witness, a registered charity that happily gives receipts eligible for tax deductions for donations small and large. We need your help. We need more of you to support the ministry of providing deep and engaging writing that encourages Christians to talk to each other and to the world.
While my own role at ChristianWeek is winding down, I am grateful that this worthy publication will carry on the good work of providing the kind of information that will equip and encourage positive action by the people of God in our land.
