Groundbreaking book about evangelicals has strong Canadian connection
TORONTO, ON—A groundbreaking book has been published about evangelicals and it has a strong Canadian connection. Evangelicals Around the World: A Global Handbook for the 21st Century from Thomas Nelson Publishing brings together a team of multi-disciplined scholars, writers, activists, and leaders from around the world.
There are an estimated 600 million evangelicals in the world today, crossing cultures, histories, languages, politics, and nationalities. For the first time ever, this book tells the entire story of the movements’ incredible growth, diversity and challenges across the globe.
Brian C. Stiller, the global ambassador for the World Evangelical Alliance, is the book’s general editor. Stiller, who is Canadian, is the author of 12 books, former longtime president of Tyndale University College & Seminary, and the founder and former editor-in-chief of Canada’s national magazine, Faith Today. He also hosted a national weekly television program “Cross Currents,” served as president of The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada and chaired Lausanne’s Younger Leadership Conference – Singapore 1987.
The handbook provides a compelling look at the diverse group we call evangelicals.
Also a Canadian is the book’s managing editor, Karen Stiller, who is senior editor of Faith Today magazine, and a partner with the Canadian Christian News Service. She is the author of Going Missional: Conversations with 13 Canadian Churches who Have Embraced Missional Life and co-author of Shifting Stats Shaking the Church: 40 Canadian Churches Respond. Karen is also a freelance journalist and editor.
Written by those who know the movement the best, the issues that divide and the beliefs that unite this global Christian movement are presented in a journalistic fashion.
Evangelicals Around the World describes the past and the present, the unique characters, and the powerful ministries of evangelicals.
