Promise Keepers conference challenges men to be fully alive
BURLINGTON, ON—"What does it mean to be fully alive? Why do so many men just exist from day to day?" Those are two of the questions leaders at Promise Keepers Canada are asking as part of the Alive men's conference.
The conference, which takes place all across Canada throughout March and April, will feature speakers talking about what it means to lead a powerful life transformed by Christ.
Rick Verkerk, national manager of events for Promise Keepers Canada, says he started planning the conference's theme when he started noticing a spirit of complacency among Christian men across Canada.
"I'm speechless [because] this is not what God wants for us as men," Verkerk says. "Really, what I'm looking for us to teach out of this is for men to not just be living, but for men to be fully alive for Christ."
Various speakers are scheduled to participate in the event, with special music by Irish singer-songwriter Robin Mark and worship led by Andrew Thompson, Promise Keepers Canada's national worship leader.
Verkerk says he wants men to think through two main things at the conference.
"Where am I at with my priorities, and am I honouring God?" Verkerk asks. "And the second thing is: What do I need to get there? What is God saying I need to do so that I can be more fully alive?"
