THE EFC CALLS CHURCH TO PRAYER AND FASTING OVER COVID-19 PANDEMIC
OTTAWA – The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada and the World Evangelical Alliance are inviting individual Canadians and church congregations to participate in a Global Day of Prayer and Fasting, as part of a worldwide response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, March 29.
“Canadian churches have been working hard through this pandemic to serve a complexity of expanding needs and to stay connected with members of their congregations – reaching out with care throughout Canada’s local communities, all while following the protocols provided by Public Health officials,” says Bruce J. Clemenger, President of The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada.
“I am encouraged to hear of the many, many stories of churches being creative in this extremely challenging time. Now on Sunday March 29 we have an opportunity to come together with the global Church in prayer for healing.”
Bishop Efraim Tendero, based in the Philippines, is Secretary General of the World Evangelical Alliance, a network of churches in 129 nations of more than 600 million evangelical Christians. “We have been following with concern the news of the outbreak and spread of COVID-19 over the past weeks, first in China and then internationally,” he said in a recent news release found HERE.
“We know that many among our constituency have already been praying for those affected. We would like to now specifically call on churches and individual believers to take time to pray for God to intervene in this crisis and stop the virus from spreading any further.”
