Toronto to transform into “Godlywood” during March film fest
TORONTO, ON—Toronto's first Christian film festival is coming to the Art Gallery of Ontario March 3 to 4. Gospel Fest on Film will show four Christian films—two dramas and two documentaries—along with panel discussions.
Andrew Mahorn, the event organizer, says the movies were selected for the quality of the filmmaking and the power and strength of their message.
"God is doing amazing things in the film industry," he says. "These movies are more than just entertainment. They are tools for ministry. What better way to illustrate God's love and power than through something which is visual and audible that we can all relate to."
Gospel Fest on Film is sponsored by The Church of God of Prophecy and The Canadian Black Film Festival, of which Mahorn is assistant director. Films include Beware of Christians, a documentary that follows four young men on an international mission to discover Christ, and Blessed and Cursed, a drama based on the story of Saul and David staring gospel singer and pastor Deitrick Haddon.
"It's a perfect coming together of my two passions: my love of Christ and my passion for the arts," Mahorn says, "We don't just want to show a movie, we want to start a conversation."
